Job summary

General Motors in Michigan is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support high-volume machining and grinding, focusing on tooling, equipment, and process improvements within a fast-paced manufacturing environment in Grand Rapids.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, oversee external vendors, ensure documentation and training, and participate in projects to improve equipment efficiency and quality across operations. Relocation benefits may be available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or equivalent relevant experience.
• 3+ years in an engineering support role in a manufacturing environment.
• Working knowledge of high-volume manufacturing.
• Proficiency with CAD software and Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Ensure all manufacturing technical documentation is up to date.
• Provide technical direction to internal teams while overseeing external vendors to ensure processes, equipment, and solutions meet quality, efficiency, and production requirements.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to drive problem-solving initiatives, including improving equipment efficiency, resolving downtime events, and addressing customer quality concerns.
• Provide day-to-day support of manufacturing operations and maintenance.
• Participate in identifying and/or resolving safety and ergonomics issues.
• Facilitate or deliver training for team members and maintenance personnel, and develop training manuals and work instructions.
• Participate in project planning and coordination to ensure tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.
