Job summary

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems in Elkridge, MD, is looking for a Manufacturing Engineer to design and optimize processes for bonding, fabrication, coating and additive manufacturing. You will develop work instructions and collaborate with the chief engineer to define repair procedures, while evaluating production feasibility.

This role requires CAD proficiency, a bachelor’s and often a master’s degree in engineering, and eligibility for a U.S. government Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related STEM field; 2 years’ manufacturing experience.
• Master’s degree in Engineering or related STEM field.
• Experience using CAD software for drafting/modelling.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Security Clearance.
• U.S. citizenship is required.

Responsibilities

• Design manufacturing processes, procedures and production layouts for assemblies, equipment installation and material handling.
• Develop process documentation for Bonding, Mechanical Fabrication, Coating and Additive Manufacturing.
• Work with the chief engineer to develop repair procedures.
• Evaluate incoming production for feasibility and process definition.
• Define fabrication process based on component features; materials and dimensions.
• Create and maintain work instructions.
• Design sequence of operations and specify procedures for the fabrication of tools and equipment.
• Develop equipment maintenance and provide interface to BWI for equipment maintenance.
• Assist with maintenance of environmental test equipment.
• Support routing development and other IE activities.
• Support ongoing expansion of LCSO; multiple moves and build outs; interface to facilities.
• Designs arrangement of machines within plant facilities to ensure efficiency.
• Provide supplier support to resolve issues within supply base.
• Provide RFP input related to NRE such as tooling, capital equipment and/or new process development.
