Job summary

Northrop Grumman Corp. in Charlottesville, VA, seeks a Principal or Senior Principal Manufacturing Engineer to lead manufacturing process development for machined and fabricated components. You will work with milling, sheet metal, welding, and coating processes, guiding design concepts and manufacturing techniques.

You will interact with operators and leadership, drive continuous improvement, and travel to supplier sites as needed. A DoD SECRET clearance and US citizenship are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related STEM field and 5+ years in manufacturing engineering.
• Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings.
• Experience with CAD/CAM and shop floor support.
• Ability to obtain/maintain DoD SECRET clearance.
• US Citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development/improvement of manufacturing processes for machined components.
• Design sequence of operations and fabrication procedures.
• Perform continuous improvement for cost/schedule savings.
• Provide guidance on design concepts and specs for equipment use.
• Interface with operators and cell supervisors on shop floor.
• Travel to suppliers as required for positive outcomes.
