Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Staff Manufacturing Systems Engineer to lead systems engineering activities at the Elkton, Maryland facility. The role focuses on munitions production acceleration, facility upgrades, and site expansion with a strong emphasis on integrating new equipment and digital tools into existing production cells.

Qualifications

• Minimum 12 years of experience with a bachelor's degree in STEM.
• Masters degree with 10+ years experience or PhD with 8+ years experience.
• US citizenship and ability to obtain Secret clearance required.
• Experience developing manufacturing system requirements and technical plans.
• Experience integrating new equipment into production facilities.
• Experience managing project cost, schedule, and technical risk.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to interface with multiple teams.
• Experience writing proposals, SOWs, or BOEs.

Responsibilities

• Lead manufacturing systems engineering activities supporting long-range strategic plans (munitions production acceleration, facilities upgrades, site expansion).
• Develop and decompose manufacturing system and facility interface requirements aligning with safety, environmental, and regulatory needs.
• Define facility utilities, infrastructure, and layout needs for new/expanded production cells in collaboration with Facilities Engineering.
• Support facility design reviews, construction readiness, and equipment hookup planning.
• Coordinate production readiness for new/renovated spaces, including safety and commissioning activities.
• Integrate manufacturing systems (equipment, automation, process controls, digital tools) into existing and greenfield facilities.
• Own projects across Manufacturing Readiness Level phases from concept to full-rate production and sustainment.
• Lead proposals and SOWs for manufacturing systems and facility-related scope.
