Job summary

James Hardie is seeking a Cost Accountant to own site standard costing for materials, labor, and overhead. You will analyze manufacturing performance, support month-end close, and drive cost-saving actions across operations.

With 2–5 years in accounting/finance (manufacturing preferred), you will work with JD Edwards and advanced Excel to ensure GAAP compliance and robust internal controls. Competitive benefits are included.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 2–5 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance role.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Technical system competence with JD Edwards and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting methods.

Responsibilities

• Develop, own, and manage site standard costing for materials, labor, overhead, BOMs, and routings.
• Analyze manufacturing performance and spending trends; partner with operations on cost-saving actions.
• Prepare month-end close activities including journal entries and reconciliations.
• Analyze controllable expenses and material cost variances monthly.
• Manage production work orders and reconcile manufacturing cost variances.
• Support SOX controls, testing, and internal/external audits.
