Job summary

James Hardie Building Products Inc. is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain the standard costing system, analyze manufacturing performance, and lead best practices in inventory control and spend management at our Idaho site.

The role reports to the site Controller and focuses on cost analysis, journal entries, and month-end close activities. The candidate will develop site standard costing for materials, labor, and overhead, collaborate with operations for cost-saving actions, and ensure

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• 2-5 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance position/role.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Technical system competence with JD Edwards and advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.

Responsibilities

• Development, ownership, and ongoing management of site standard costing, including material, labor and overhead, BOMs and production routings updates, and annual standard cost roll.
• Providing analysis of manufacturing performance and spending trends and partnering with operations teams on corrective actions or other cost savings opportunities.
• Prepare month-end close activities, including adjusting journal entries and accruals, closing production work orders, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Complete monthly cost analysis of controllable expense accounts and material cost variance accounts.
• Daily management of production work order process, manufacturing accounting on work orders, and understanding to explain and reconcile manufacturing cost variances for the plant.
• Collaborate with operations and shared AP services to research and resolve purchasing and invoice issues.
