James Hardie Corporation in Raleigh, NC seeks a Cost Accountant to maintain standard costing, analyze manufacturing performance, and lead inventory and fixed asset control. You’ll work under the site Controller, partnering with operations to drive cost savings and accurate financial reporting.

The role requires 1–3 years in accounting/finance, manufacturing exposure, and experience with JD Edwards and Excel. Growth opportunities exist within a global building products leader.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
• 1–3 years of accounting/finance experience.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with JD Edwards and Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of GAAP.
• Strong analytical and data synthesis skills.
• Ability to present data-driven solutions.
• Desire to grow within the organization.

Responsibilities

• Execute and maintain site standard costing, including material, labor and overhead, BOMs and production routings updates, and annual standard cost roll.
• Provide analysis of manufacturing performance and spending trends and partner with operations on corrective actions or cost savings.
• Month-end close activities, including adjusting journal entries and accruals, closing production work orders, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Complete monthly cost analysis of controllable expense accounts and material cost variance accounts.
• Daily management of production work order process, manufacturing accounting on work orders, and explaining manufacturing cost variances.
• Participate in daily/weekly plant meetings to explain results and identify solutions.
• Drive accounting processes to ensure accurate books and compliance with key controls.
• Accurate inventory control through cycle count and physical inventories with root cause analysis.
• Manage site fixed assets, including reconciliations, additions/disposals, and counts/audits.
• Collaborate with operations and shared services to resolve issues.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
