Job summary

James Hardie Building Products Inc. is seeking a Cost Accountant to maintain site standard costing, analyze manufacturing performance, and lead inventory and asset controls. Under the site Controller, you will drive cost accuracy, variance reporting and adherence to control requirements.

The role requires a degree in accounting/finance with 1–3 years of manufacturing accounting experience, proficiency in JD Edwards and Excel, and a results-oriented mindset focused on data-driven improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• 1-3 years of accounting/finance experience.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting methods.
• Strong analytical ability to synthesize data into insights.
• Ability to present data-supported solutions.
• Proven problem-solving ability with sound judgment.
• Results-oriented with accuracy and timeliness.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain site standard costing for material, labor and overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing performance and cost trends with operations.
• Close monthly with journal entries and accruals.
• Perform cost variance analysis and WIP cost reconciliation.
• Manage production work orders and cost variance explanations.
