Job summary

James Hardie, a leader in exterior home and outdoor living solutions, seeks a Cost Accountant to maintain the standard costing system, analyze manufacturing performance, and lead inventory control, fixed assets and spend management.

Under the site Controller, you will perform month-end close, cost variance analysis, and asset reconciliations, collaborating with operations to drive cost savings and ensure accurate books.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance preferred.
• 1-3 years of experience in a similar accounting or finance position/role.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
• Experience with JD Edwards and proficiency with Microsoft Excel preferred.
• Knowledge of GAAP and standard/cost accounting methods.

Responsibilities

• Maintain site standard costing (materials, labor, overhead, BOMs, routings).
• Analyze manufacturing performance and cost trends; partner with operations on cost savings.
• Handle month-end close activities, journal entries, accruals and reconciliations.
• Perform monthly cost analysis of controllable expenses and cost variances.
• Manage production work orders and reconcile manufacturing costs.
• Explain results in plant meetings and drive corrective actions.
• Ensure accurate books and compliance with internal controls.
