Job summary

TECOMET in Allentown, NJ is seeking a Manual Machinist responsible for unusual and highly diversified machining of stainless steel and other alloys, using milling machines, lathes, drill presses, and grinders. You will set up, operate, and finish parts following engineering drawings and write instructions.

Candidates should have at least 3 years in a machine shop, read blueprints, use calipers and micrometers, and be proficient with Microsoft Office. Welding is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years machine shop experience required, preferably in an engineering environment using the majority of the equipment listed above.
• Ability to read blueprints, drawings, sketches and work orders.
• Read calipers, micrometers and other inspection tools as needed.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; detail oriented and efficient.
• Welding experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge, set up and operation of manual machinery including milling machines, lathes, drill press, surface grinder and hand tools.
• Reworks parts as per print with written and verbal instructions.
• Maintains production by completing scheduled work on-time as per the schedule.
• Inspects components to ensure proper form, fit, and function meeting dimensional criteria.
• Completes documentation including routings and inspection reports.
• Maintains inventory of material and hardware; assist maintenance when needed.
• Work with engineering to develop fixtures for production and tooling.
• Maintain a clean, safe, well-organized work area.
