Job summary

TECOMET in Cherry Hill, NJ is seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to perform diverse machining on stainless steel and other alloys, following engineering drawings and using hand tools.

You will set up and operate manual machines (milling machines, lathes, drill presses, surface grinders), inspect parts with calipers, micrometers and gauges, document work, and collaborate with engineering to develop fixtures and tooling for production. Attention to detail and safety are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years machine shop experience.
• Able to read and work from blueprints, drawings, sketches, work orders or written instructions.
• Able to read blueprints for finish specifications and critical dimensions.
• Ability to read calipers, micrometer, optical comparator, height gauges and other inspection tools as needed.
• Trade mathematics and detail-oriented with focus on accuracy and safety.
• Welding experience is desirable.
• Able to work under general supervision and follow instructions.
• Excellent data entry skills.

Responsibilities

• Knowledge, set up and operation of manual machinery including milling machines, lathes, drill press, surface grinder, and hand tools.
• Reworks parts as per print with written and verbal instructions.
• Maintains production by completing scheduled work on-time as per the schedule.
• Inspects components, subassemblies, and final assemblies to ensure proper form, fit, and function.
• Completes all documentation including routings and inspection reports.
• Documents time entry into computer and ensures work in progress is identified.
• Maintains inventory of material and hardware.
• Assist maintenance with repair of machine parts.
• Work with engineering to develop fixtures and tooling.
• Performs other duties or special projects as required.
