Summary

The Manual Machinist is responsible for operating various machining tools such as lathes, mills, presses, grinders, saws, drills, boring tools, welders, broaches, and metal spray units to repair or create parts from drawings or specifications. The role requires precise measurement using devices like micrometers and calipers, and recording data accurately. Work may be performed in-house or at customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Operate machining equipment including lathes, milling machines, drill presses, grinders, presses, welders, and balancing equipment.
• Perform welding tasks such as MIG, TIG, ARC/Stick, and Oxy Acety welding.
• Read blueprints, drawings, and specifications accurately.
• Use measuring devices to determine and record sizes and tolerances.
• Calibrate measuring devices as needed.
• Perform machining tasks like turning, milling, threading, boring, welding, drilling, grinding, and balancing.
• Document measurements and calculations properly.

Qualifications

• 1 to 3 years of experience in a machine shop environment or completion of an accredited machine shop program.
• Ability to read blueprints, perform measurements, and adhere to safety standards at a skilled trades level.

Skills

• Ability to work independently or in a team.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.

Education

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
