Job summary

All Seniors Foundation in Los Angeles, CA is seeking a Mandarin-speaking Patient Advocate to support older adults and families across the San Gabriel Valley. You will translate between staff and clients, advocate for Medi-Cal, IHSS, hospice, and other benefits, and accompany clients to appointments.

Qualifications

• Native or near-native fluency in Mandarin and English (oral and written); Cantonese a plus
• Experience working with elderly populations, healthcare systems, or social services
• Cultural competency with Chinese and Chinese-American senior communities
• Strong empathy, patience, and ability to explain complex topics in plain language
• High school diploma; bachelor's in social work, public health, or related preferred

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial assessments with Mandarin-speaking seniors and families
• Translate between English-speaking staff and Mandarin-speaking clients during medical and benefits conversations
• Help clients enroll in Medi-Cal, IHSS, hospice, Medicare Savings Programs, and other benefits
• Accompany clients to medical appointments and benefits offices as interpreter and advocate
• Document interactions in our case-management system and follow up on open issues
• Build trust with San Gabriel Valley Chinese communities through outreach at churches, temples, community centers, and senior housing
