Job summary

Abortion, Every Day is seeking an organized, collaborative Managing Editor to guide daily coverage and manage planning for partnerships and special projects. You will lead editorial planning, assign and edit stories, and publish urgent daily coverage while shaping long-term collaborations.

This is an experienced editorial leadership role in a small team with a big impact, reporting to Valenti and AED’s CEO.

Qualifications

• Experience leading daily or frequent news coverage with ability to plan and coordinate long-term projects.
• Proven ability to build and operate editorial planning systems across teams.
• Fluency with modern digital publishing — newsletters, social, and multi-platform distribution.
• Demonstrated commitment to elevating marginalized voices in journalism.
• Five+ years as a newsroom manager or equivalent in supporting reporters.

Responsibilities

• Lead newsletter editorial planning and publishing, including team meetings and calendar upkeep.
• Directly edit and work hands-on with writers to ensure accuracy and sourcing.
• Collaborate with the community team to ensure audience engagement across platforms.
• Represent AED in external partnerships, co-reported investigations, and live events.
• Foster a collaborative culture focused on experimentation, accountability, and sustainable growth.
