Qualifications

• Seven+ years of journalism experience and at least three years in newsroom management.
• Proven ability to edit with clarity, provide context, and meet deadlines.
• Experience with digital-first journalism and a fast-growth startup environment.
• Ability to engage diverse local communities and think visually for storytelling.

Responsibilities

• Set editorial direction with the Executive Editor for daily newsroom planning and editing.
• Ensure high-quality, trustworthy, non-partisan stories across products.
• Lead community engagement efforts and reader feedback initiatives.
• Represent Lookout Eugene-Springfield at community events.
• Maintain high journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy, and clarity.
• Apply modern digital creation and distribution tools with audience analysis.
