Job summary

Arkansas Today is seeking up to two experienced Managing Editors to help launch our new statewide newsroom. These senior newsroom managers will work closely with our Editor-in-Chief to develop and oversee an editorial strategy centered around accountability and investigative reporting in lesser-covered areas of the state.

From day one, the Managing Editor will be a key player in staffing decisions, newsroom workflows, editorial partnerships, and day-to-day operations, shaping the newsroom's

Qualifications

• 2+ years of newsroom management experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Working knowledge of WordPress and analytics/distribution shaping reader engagement.
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Set vision for the new Arkansas Today newsroom with Editor-in-Chief.
• Develop and manage editorial budgets and beats focusing on undercovered Arkansas regions.
• Lead editorial meetings and supervise reporters with clear timelines.
• Edit and second-read daily and investigative coverage.
• Coordinate strategies with platform managers and advocate for diverse views.
