Mission
IDEA Public Schools is seeking a Managing Director of Grants to join our growing Business Office team. The Managing Director will report to the Vice President of Treasury and Grants and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local grants. The role involves evaluating major programs and staff annually to identify cost-saving opportunities and supporting leaders during planning.

As a member of the National team, you will support all 13 regions across 15 states to achieve financial goals while ensuring responsible stewardship of public funds and donations. The Managing Director of Grants will be an expert in federal, state, and local financial laws, policies, and procedures, requiring strong leadership and interpersonal skills to build partnerships, lead teams, and clarify grant requirements.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manage Directors of Grants, Philanthropic Grants, Compliance, Public Competitive Grants, and Grants Accountants (x2).
Location & Travel
This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference for candidates in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin, Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County, or those willing to relocate. Travel up to 30% during peak periods.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead training on grant compliance for national, regional, and campus leaders.
- Oversee program planning, implementation, and budget monitoring in line with grant policies.
- Deliver quarterly training for Business Office leaders on federal and philanthropic grants.
- Guide the team through grant drawdown processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Review and approve grant reimbursements monthly.
- Maintain proper grant documentation and prepare internal reports.
- Present grant updates to the Board, Superintendents, and Committees.
- Ensure payroll and internal controls compliance.
- Support policy development and internal audits.
- Collaborate on district and campus improvement plans.
- Manage grant reporting and corrective actions to meet high-risk requirements.
Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, business, or economics.
- 7+ years in accounting, finance, or grants, with federal and state program focus.
- 5+ years familiarity with EDGAR regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, ERP systems like Tyler Munis, Skyward, Oracle, or similar.
- Preferred: Master’s degree and supervisory experience in education finance.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $119,000 - $142,800, plus performance pay. Benefits include health insurance, disability, life insurance, parental leave, flexible spending, generous vacation, bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan. Relocation stipends may be available.
