Purpose

The Managing Director, Identity Access Management (The MD) is responsible for supporting the achievement of the Bank’s information security objectives of integrity, confidentiality/privacy, availability, and continuity, and the delivery of information security for the Scotiabank Group. With global oversight for the Bank's Identity Access Management services and program, this MD will be responsible for the enterprise-wide IAM program and ensuring the Bank meets its obligations under various regulatory frameworks.

Responsibilities

1. Design, implement, and operate Identity and Access Management (IAM) services across the global organization to ensure the correct individuals, processes, and devices have access to the right resources, data, and at the appropriate times.
2. Establish controls including access control, custody of privileges, logging, access governance, reporting, and independent review to ensure authorized access and modifications are performed in accordance with standards and legislative requirements.
3. Develop customer protection technologies to provide a secure online customer experience across all global online channels.
4. Manage Machine Identity Management (MIM) processes to handle digital credentials of devices accessing Scotia data.
5. Oversee Process Identity Management (PIM) processes to manage digital credentials of application processes, both on-premise and in the cloud.
6. Monitor and align identity and access management strategies with organizational standards, continuously improving processes, documenting procedures, and evaluating new systems as needed.
7. Research and evaluate emerging technologies and best practices to optimize our IAM tools and reduce costs.
8. Participate in strategic planning by providing insights and support to the IS&C strategy, vision, and major projects.
9. Maintain industry relationships to stay abreast of best practices and industry developments.
10. Lead operational activities consistent with the Bank’s risk culture and communicate risk policies effectively to teams.
11. Foster a high-performance team environment aligned with Scotiabank’s values, ensuring operational excellence, compliance, and risk management.
12. Develop and implement a people strategy to attract, develop, and retain talent, fostering an inclusive and motivating environment.

Education / Experience

• Proven experience leading global IAM programs within large organizations with dispersed geographies.
• Deep knowledge of security solutions, system architectures, operational models, and standards such as NIST and MITRE ATT&CK.
• Successful leadership of enterprise-wide IAM teams.
• Experience in complex sectors like banking, telecom, healthcare, or retail is preferred.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills.
