West Monroe has an immediate opportunity for a seasoned consulting leader with deep energy & utilities experience to lead and grow our national E&U practice as an expert lead focused on regulatory advisory services to enable the energy transition. These services are varied and may include:

  • Regulatory strategy for policy and ratemaking
  • Revenue requirements modeling
  • Business case analysis for investment justification
  • Expert testimony development and expert witness services
  • Program management for regulatory proceedings
  • Regulatory affairs, including stakeholder engagement

As a Managing Director/Partner, you will work with our Regulatory Advisory team to build, retain, and grow the business. This role involves refining and expanding our offerings, go-to-market strategy, and execution. You will develop new business, manage client relationships at the executive level, and provide leadership to project teams. Candidates should be passionate and enjoy a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.

What You Will Be Doing:
Business Development
  • Cultivate new and existing client development opportunities
  • Manage the sales cycle with prospective and current clients
  • Lead proposal development, work plans, pricing, and risk assessments
  • Attend networking events and leverage professional networks
Client Delivery
  • Lead teams serving energy & utilities clients with executive presence
  • Mentor and manage team members on projects
  • Review deliverables and manage project risks
  • Act as client relationship manager with C-level executives
  • Provide expert witness support if requested
Practice Development
  • Define office culture and strategic direction
  • Develop capabilities and methodologies
  • Coach and lead consultants, participate in recruiting and performance management
  • Contribute to firm culture and growth
Qualifications:
  • Deep knowledge and experience in regulation of US transmission and distribution utilities
  • Minimum 15 years in energy & utilities, with at least 5 in regulatory matters
  • At least 3 years consulting experience; Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or JD preferred
  • Prior experience as an expert witness is a plus
  • Strong leadership, client development, and project management skills
  • Extensive professional network in utility regulatory departments
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusion

This role can be remote or near regional hubs, with travel as needed. Salary range is $280,000–$333,000 USD, depending on location and experience. West Monroe offers comprehensive benefits, including health insurance, 401k, stock options, bonuses, flexible time off, and parental leave.
