Key Responsibilities
  • Grow and sustain a profitable book of new and renewal excess liability business in the Northeast region.
  • Lead and develop a team of 6+ underwriters.
  • Develop and implement an underwriting strategy to identify profitable market opportunities.
  • Analyze submissions and make decisions based on risk characteristics and exposure analysis.
  • Accept, reject, or modify new and/or renewal business to ensure profitability.
  • Price business according to company underwriting and pricing guidelines.
  • Communicate effectively with agents/brokers on underwriting issues.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with brokers and reinsurers.
  • Promote the company's products and services through networking and speaking opportunities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Experience
  • 15+ years of experience in underwriting, marketing, and management of underwriting with an emphasis in excess casualty.
  • Extensive relationships with wholesale brokers.
  • Prior experience managing a team.
Qualifications
  • BS/BA degree required; Master’s degree and/or insurance designation a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High energy and positive demeanor.
  • Ability to travel as needed.
Compensation

The annualized base pay range for this role is $176,000 - $264,000, with additional rewards including bonuses and incentives.
