The Manager in Training (MIT) position is a short-term transitional role that provides work assignments and training opportunities to prepare MITs for promotion into Retail/Commercial Store Management positions. Entry into the program may lead to management positions within approximately 8-12 weeks, depending on prior experience and performance.

Responsibilities

An MIT is a member of the management team, expected to Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and drive store performance. Under the supervision of the Store Manager, the MIT will:

• Support overall store retail/commercial management, supervision, and policy implementation
• Manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly P&L statements
• Handle employee staffing, training, and development
• Oversee inventory management
• Lead customer service efforts

MITs will also complete operations and management skills training, learning about key aspects of the business and AutoZone culture. Performance and progression through the training are essential for consideration for management openings.

Requirements

• 1-2 years of retail management or supervisory experience
• Ability to work a flexible full-time schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime
• Bilingual skills are preferred but not required
• Automotive experience is preferred but not required
• Experience analyzing financials, including Profit and Loss statements, is preferred but not required
