Site Reliability Engineers at UKG are vital team members with broad knowledge in service delivery. They develop software solutions to enhance, secure, and support our service processes, including building and managing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, capacity planning, performance analysis, monitoring, alerting, chaos engineering, and auto-remediation.

Job Responsibilities:
  1. Engage in and improve the lifecycle of services from conception to EOL, including system design consulting and capacity planning.
  2. Define and implement standards and best practices related to system architecture, service delivery, metrics, and operational automation.
  3. Support services, product, and engineering teams by providing tooling and frameworks to increase availability and incident response efficiency.
  4. Enhance system performance and application delivery through automation, process refinement, postmortem reviews, and configuration analysis.
  5. Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver reliable services.
  6. Improve operational efficiency by treating challenges as software engineering problems (reduce toil).
  7. Guide junior team members and champion Site Reliability Engineering principles.
  8. Participate actively in incident response, including on-call duties.
  9. Partner with stakeholders to influence and drive optimal technical and business outcomes.
Required Qualifications:
  • Engineering degree or related technical discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience coding in languages such as Python, JavaScript, C++, or Java.
  • Knowledge of cloud-based applications and containerization technologies.
  • Understanding of metric generation, log pipelines, time-series databases, and distributed tracing.
  • Experience with industry standards like Terraform and Ansible.
  • Fundamentals in at least two of the following areas: Computer Science, Cloud Architecture, Security, or Network Design.

Experience, Education, Certification, License, and Training:

  • 15+ years in IT, with at least 8 years in engineering or cloud roles.
  • At least 5 years' experience with public cloud platforms (GCP, AWS, Azure).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in configuring and maintaining large-scale applications/systems.
  • Experience with distributed system design and architecture.
