Sales Manager is responsible for the origination of new business through prospecting and increasing share of wallet with existing clients. The sales approach at Element is consultative; you must have tenacity to sell an industry-leading portfolio of finance solutions and fleet management services, bringing value to clients to solve complex fleet management challenges.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Generate new business and share of wallet opportunities with customers and prospects. Identify needs and develop proposals with Element's value-added services. Coordinate the end-to-end sales process for onboarding new customers, including risk underwriting, customer visits, contract negotiation, and implementation. Ability to travel at least 60% within the assigned territory.
- Manage overall relationships with assigned clients. Act as the primary point of contact. Coordinate internal teams to meet daily or new requirements. Meet with clients to maintain and grow business relationships. Oversee renewals and legal changes.
- Introduce new products and services to existing clients to enhance profitability. Present new products to prospects and clients upon rollout.
- Develop, plan, and execute strategic account plans, including coordinating with strategic consulting projects and business reviews.
- Identify and articulate industry best practices. Demonstrate analytical ability, critical reasoning, and strategic thinking to foster customer loyalty.
Education and Experience
- Proven hunter mentality focused on new business development.
- Bachelor's degree in business or a related field required; MBA preferred.
- 5-7 years in complex B2B sales, preferably selling financial products or intangible services. Experience selling to C-suite decision-makers is highly preferred.
- Demonstrated sales discipline with a successful record of acquiring new business through structured processes.
- Ability to travel at least 50% within the assigned territory.
- Preferred experience in financial services or customer-facing commercial sales roles.
- Strong critical thinking skills with the ability to offer creative solutions.
- Ability to present effectively to clients and senior management.
- Proven ability to interact effectively at all organizational levels.
Knowledge and Competencies
- Understanding of leasing, rates, financing, billing, vehicle expense reporting, and related services. Ability to sell and service at all organizational levels.
- Result-oriented self-starter with high energy, independence, and reliability.
- Ability to manage volume and close transactions efficiently.
- Work with urgency, taking responsibility for account retention and growth.
- Build and strengthen relationships by mapping decision makers and devising access strategies.
- Experience with complex business situations is desirable.
