Job summary

Kenyon College is seeking a Facilities Services Manager in the Maintenance Department to lead campus Custodial Operations, the Facilities Rover team, and Storeroom/Receiving clerks. This full-time role reports to the Director of Facility Operations and serves as a liaison to the Kenyon Events Office for event coordination.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee Custodial Supervisors and Rover staff to manage campus facilities.
  • Coordinate and set up events with Kenyon Events Office.

Job description

Kenyon College is conducting a search for a qualified candidate to fill the position of Facilities Services Manager in the Maintenance Department. The Facilities Services Manager reports to the Director of Facility Operations. The Facilities Services Manager is a full-time position responsible for the supervision of campus Custodial Operations, the Facilities Rover team, and Storeroom/Receiving clerks. The Facilities Services Manager fills a critical role as a liaison to the Kenyon Events Office and other campus partners for the coordination and setup of events throughout campus.

Primary responsibilities for this position include managing:
  • Custodial Supervisors: Day and Night Custodial Supervisors.
    • The Supervisors primary duty is to manage the custodial staff to maintain and improve the appearance of the main campus facilities and other College owned properties through various cleaning methods, techniques, and procedures.
  • Rover Staff:
    • By work order request, set up for events around the campus.
    • By work order request, move/remove/deliver furniture and equipment to work spaces about the campus.
    • Assist Custodial staff with cleaning, delivery of supplies and equipment, snow removal, exterior power washing, other duties as needed.
    • Maintain rover equipment and set up furniture.
    • Maintain Campus furniture and equipment storage facility.
  • Special Events:
    • Participate in team planning of events.
    • Directly responsible for final set-up of all special events to include: Trustee meetings, Alumni events, Admission events, Athletic events (not game set up), Artist Series, Concert Board Activities, Convocation, Commencement, Student Celebrations, and other unique Special Events.
    • Work closely with the Office of Event Management to help improve the request system.
    • Coordinate directly with the specific Event coordinator to ensure accuracy of information.
    • Coordinate directly with outside companies supplying equipment and furnishings.
  • Trash/Recycling:
    • Develop, maintain and coordinate all activities for the Kenyon recycling program.
    • Review all equipment utilized by the rovers, recycling team members, and refuse truck drivers Manage trash pick-up and removal from all campus buildings.
    • Coordinate with office of Green Initiatives with regard to Campus Recycle Initiatives, equipment purchases and Student group projects.
    • Maintain records of total recycle collection by Fiscal year, by commodity compared to total Recycle/Trash collection.
Other Job Duties
  • Utilize a work order system to distribute work, maintain staff productivity, and coordinate with other teams.
  • Supervise storage, allocation, distribution, set-up and maintenance of all special events equipment including: tents, canopies, chairs, tables, staging, flags, lecterns, podiums, risers, and any other special events equipment.
  • Develop and monitor a preventative maintenance program for all equipment utilized by team members.
  • Create and implement inspection standards for academic and dormitory areas for Supervisors and subordinate staff.
  • Coordinate outside contractors/vendors work:
    • Develop scope for work to be completed.
    • Schedule work to coincide or cause minimal disruption to college operations.
    • Follow-up on all work for quality, workmanship, and timeliness, reporting any deficiencies.
  • Maintain personnel records:
    • Track vacation requests and time-off requests.
    • Monitor custodial staff regular hours and overtime hours opportunities and schedules.
    • Conduct annual performance evaluations for employees supervised.
    • Review and approve daily time sheets of direct reports.

Qualifications
  • Supervisory experience in an academic campus.
  • Valid Ohio Driver License.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and writing skills.
  • Outstanding customer service skills is a must.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Software proficiencies: Microsoft Office, Google Suite, CMMS applications

Salary Range: Will be commensurate based on experience.
Anticipated Start Date: 01 October 2026
