Job summary

GEICO is seeking an experienced Manager, Staff Engineering to lead a platform engineering team building a next-generation Object Storage platform. You will manage 8-10 engineers, define the roadmap, and drive scalable, reliable storage solutions with strong distributed systems expertise.

The role requires hands-on experience operating storage platforms, and proficiency with Ceph, Kubernetes, and S3-compatible architectures.

Qualifications

8+ years in software engineering with focus on platform or infrastructure
3+ years of engineering management experience
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
Strong experience in distributed systems and platform development
Hands-on experience building and operating storage platforms
Experience with cloud-native technologies (Kubernetes, containers, APIs)

Responsibilities

Lead and manage a team of 8-10 engineers, including hiring, mentoring, and performance management
Define and deliver the roadmap for the Object Storage platform
Guide the design and development of scalable, reliable and secure storage systems
Ensure high availability, performance, and operational excellence of the platform
Drive best practices in automation, monitoring, and incident management
Partner with cross-functional teams to align platform capabilities with business needs
