Job summary

BayCare Health System invites a Lab Manager to lead Morton Plant Hospital's laboratory operations in Clearwater, FL. This full-time role oversees staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and coordinates budgets and quality reporting across the lab.

As a senior leader, you will supervise staff and contractors, liaise with Directors, and drive test quality and competency initiatives while maintaining strong relationships with inpatient and outpatient lab customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Biological or Clinical Science (Master’s preferred).
• 5+ years in clinical laboratory or related field.
• Florida Laboratory Supervisor License required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff and contracted employees; ensure regulatory and accreditation compliance within the laboratory.
• Direct responsibility for operational processes within the laboratory.
• Support by Directors/Managers and Lab Directors on test appropriateness, performance and quality assurance; training and competency by regional directors.
• Oversee relationships with laboratory customers; manage outreach entries into the system; include team resources, quality reporting, infectious disease reporting.
• Assist in processing expenses and billing information to appropriate departments.
• Implement and maintain databases for this information.
• Assist with budgets and quality reports.

Manager Lab Key Responsibilities

• Supervising the staff, oversee the contracted employees, and assure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation requirements within the laboratory.
• Has direct responsibility for the operational processes within the laboratory.
• Supported by the technical Directors/Managers and Lab Directors in regard to product (test) appropriateness, performance, quality assurance, training and competency by the regional directors for that particular service line.
• Oversees all relationships with the laboratory customers within the facility, either through inpatient or outpatient access and assists BayCare Central Laboratory Services with outreach routes of entry into the system. This includes team resources, quality reporting, infectious disease reporting.
• Assists in processing expense and billing information to the appropriate departments.
• Implements and maintains the appropriate databases for this information.
• Assist with budgets and quality reports.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s in Biological or Clinical Science (Master’s preferred)
• Experience: 5+ years in clinical laboratory or related field
• Licensure: Florida Laboratory Supervisor License required
