The Manager II, Branch Chief, reports directly to the Division Chief of the Medi-Cal Eligibility Division (MCED), assisting the Division Chief in meeting the mission of the Department to preserve and improve the health of all Californians by adopting policies to ensure equal access and availability of comprehensive health services, and ensuring appropriate expenditure of public funds to serve those persons with health care needs. The Manager II oversees the Eligibility Policy I Branch, which is responsible for the administration of children’s programs, the Breast Cervical Cancer Treatment Program (BCCTP), and other critical program areas related to Title XXI and non-MAGI programs for special populations. The Manager II manages two Supervisor II's directly. The position requires strong leadership, management, interpersonal, analytical, and oral and written communication skills; the ability to listen, observe and draw accurate conclusions; make thoughtful, collaborative and timely decisions that produce high quality results; propose workable solutions in a tactful, constructive manner; be flexible and interact with staff at all levels of the organization. The position also requires the ability to recognize, accept, encourage and implement change. Travel may be required for site visits and meetings less than five percent of the time.

Telework: Hybrid. This position is currently eligible for telework. The amount of telework is at the discretion of the Department and is subject to change consistent with DHCS’ Telework Program and Government Code sections 14200 – 14203. Telework is available to California residents, and proof of residency may be required.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
