Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced HVAC/R technician for field service in Sedalia, MO. You will install, calibrate, and service commercial systems, interpret blueprints, and mentor junior technicians.

The role requires EPA certifications, journeyman status where required, and a focus on safety, regulatory compliance, and customer communication across multiple facilities.

Qualifications

• Must hold EPA Type I/II or Universal refrigerant handling certifications.
• Experience with installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration in commercial/industrial settings.
• Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and technical documentation.
• Proven track record of leading field teams and maintaining safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial systems
• Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and minimize downtime
• Conduct inspections and repairs in compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations
• Lead and mentor field teams on technical procedures and safety practices
• Communicate technical information with customers and coordinate service calls using digital tools
• Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions

Job description

• Install, configure, and calibrate HVAC and refrigeration systems, including ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues in commercial and industrial systems
• Perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment life and minimize downtime
• Conduct inspections and repairs in compliance with federal, state, and local HVAC/R regulations
• Lead and mentor field teams on technical procedures and safety practices
• Communicate technical information with customers and coordinate service calls using digital tools
• Operate company vehicles safely to complete service assignments within assigned regions
• Collaborate with management and customers to support operational efficiency and business continuity across multiple facilities

Requirements

• Vocational or technical HVAC/R certification and 2 years’ experience in mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls, OR 4 years’ experience in a mechanical maintenance or construction-related field for commercial HVAC/R and building controls or related field
• Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling
• HVAC-R/Mechanical Journeyman where required
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report
• Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five years
• Commercial driving record with no more than two moving violations in the last three years
• No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years
• No serious traffic violations under Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations in the last three years
• Experience installing, maintaining, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems in commercial or industrial settings
• Ability to interpret layout plans, schematics, and technical documentation
• Proficiency configuring and calibrating HVAC controls, including low ambient systems and direct digital controls
• Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues following EPA 608 refrigerant handling protocols
• Effective communication with customers and team members
• Ability to lead and mentor field teams while adhering to OSHA safety standards
• Competence managing service calls, inventory tracking, and digital scheduling tools
