Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the day-to-day Facilities operations in a single hospital or health center. Responsibilities may include oversight of additional departments such as Plant Operations, Environmental Services, Security, Real Estate properties, and Environmental Safety. Duties include project management, minor construction, building renovation projects, and other assigned tasks. The role involves Program Quality Evaluation (PQE), financial performance, personnel recruitment, staff training, customer satisfaction improvement, and personal growth. Specific responsibilities include:
- Managing a single acute care facility of approximately 500,000 sq ft with less than 250 licensed beds.
- Overseeing departments such as Environmental Services, Dietary, Transportation, Laundry, Security, etc.
- Serving as the Life Safety Officer.
The Manager, Facility Management, adheres to high ethical standards, supports the Mission, Philosophy, and Core Values of CommonSpirit Health, and reports to the Director or Division Director of Facility Management. The role involves interfacing with various teams across the system for initiatives and projects.
Additional Responsibilities
- Conducting monthly department meetings, ensuring timely reports, regulatory compliance, and monitoring key performance indicators.
- Developing budgets, verifying resource use, managing staff, materials, supplies, and vendors.
- Ensuring financial targets are met, managing expenditures, and consolidating service contracts.
- Maintaining maintenance procedures per codes and standards.
- Recruiting, training, and developing staff, including performance evaluations.
- Communicating with staff, leadership, and customers, and delivering client reports.
- Managing the annual PQE process, ensuring accreditation, license renewals, and compliance with regulations (OSHA, EPA, The Joint Commission, DNV, CMS).
- Maintaining records for maintenance procedures, ensuring preventive and corrective maintenance targets are met.
- Conducting customer satisfaction surveys annually.
- Building positive relationships with hospital administration and stakeholders.
- Providing growth opportunities and training for team members.
- Networking with peers for ideas and sourcing information.
- Implementing continuous improvement initiatives for operational excellence and financial stewardship.
- Supporting construction activities and Master Facility Plan development.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
- At least 4 years of leadership experience, with 2 years in hospital maintenance/medical equipment management.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CHFM, CHC, PE) preferred.
- Construction, Safety, and Security experience preferred.
- Strong financial and operational management skills.
- Effective communication skills.
