Job summary

Verano is seeking a Manager, Finance – External Reporting to lead the preparation of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and SEC filings, while ensuring compliance with US GAAP and SEC rules. The role collaborates with Investor Relations, Legal, and Treasury, and drives improvements to reporting processes and controls.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree is a plus.
Active CPA license required.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including SEC/external reporting at a publicly traded company.
2+ years of public accounting experience, preferably with a Big 4 or national firm.
Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and SEC reporting requirements, including Regulations S-X and S-K.
Experience supervising, reviewing the work of, and developing others is preferred.
Experience with Workiva (Wdesk) and XBRL is strongly preferred; ERP/reporting systems a plus.
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency in Word and PowerPoint.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical accounting to non-accountants.

Responsibilities

Lead the preparation and review of quarterly and annual consolidated financial statements, footnotes, and schedules for SEC filings.
Manage external reporting calendar, disclosure checklists, and XBRL tagging workflows.
Coordinate with Investor Relations, FP&A, Legal, and Treasury for earnings releases and investor materials.
Monitor accounting literature and SEC rulemaking for new requirements and assist implementation.
Prepare quarterly accounting and regulatory update materials for senior management and Audit Committee.
Perform technical accounting research and memos on complex transactions (e.g., business combinations, consolidation, leases).
Own key areas: cash flows, segment reporting, EPS, lease accounting, impairment testing.
Liaise with auditors and oversee SOX controls within the external reporting process.
Mentor external reporting staff and contribute to talent development.
Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
