Job summary

The Wellstar Diagnostic Float Team (WEST Team) supports a variety of imaging services across our facilities. As a Mammography Technologist for Region Two, you will apply your expertise to deliver safe, high‑quality imaging and a supportive patient experience at each location you serve.

Ideal candidates have at least two years of radiologic technologist experience in a hospital setting, with two years of mammography experience, ARRT certifications, and BLS.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience as a Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting.
• Minimum 2 years of Mammography experience in a hospital setting.
• Certifications: ARRT-R (Radiography) ARRT-M (Mammography) BLS (Basic Life Support) – American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

• Perform mammography exams per physician order and protocol, confirming patient identity with two unique identifiers.
• Gather relevant history, screen for contraindications, and explain the exam clearly (AIDET) to reduce anxiety.
• Protect patient privacy, dignity, and comfort while positioning patients safely and assisting with transfers as needed.
• Review images for quality and completeness, maintaining a strong first-time acceptance rate before releasing patients.
• Use sound clinical judgment, clarify unclear orders, and assist in emergencies or across imaging areas when needed.
• Operate mammography equipment safely, optimizing dose and technique, and keep equipment clean per infection control/FDA guidelines.
• Perform and document required QC tests and maintain records for AC/ MQSA/EQUIP as required.
• Ensure images are labeled/oriented, documented in PACS/RIS; complete daily charge capture for procedures.
• Keep the mammography suite clean and stocked; apply shielding and immobilization devices appropriately.
• Provide clear pre- and post-exam instructions and support training of new team members.
