Job description

Responsibilities

Operates specialized mammography, stereotactic biopsy, and bone densitometry equipment. Performs direct patient care and a variety of technical procedures to produce images for diagnosing breast diseases and osteoporosis evaluation.

Position Responsibilities:

  1. Selects and modifies patient positioning; performs mammographic, stereotactic biopsy, breast pathology localizations, and bone density procedures.
  2. Provides patient education to mammography patients.
  3. Conducts mandatory quality control of radiographic equipment, screens, and processing to comply with ACR, MQSA, and state regulations. Performs daily cleaning and documents all activities. Maintains daily analysis of repeat/reject images.
  4. Assists radiologists with invasive procedures, documents procedures, and provides first aid if needed. Ensures biopsy reports are correlated with pathology results.
  5. Coordinates with the O.R., scheduling, physicians, and staff for effective planning of invasive breast procedures.
  6. Keeps supplies stocked in mammography rooms; orders new supplies as necessary.
  7. Assists in training new personnel and students.
  8. Ensures all reports are sent to physicians and patients as required.

Qualifications

Education and Licensure:

  • Associate’s Degree (preferred)
  • Registered by ARRT in Radiography (R) and Mammography (M); current registration required
  • Certified by the State of Texas – MRT
  • CPR/BLS certification through AHA

Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of experience as a radiologic technologist

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Good dexterity in alpha/numeric tasks and handwriting
  • Strong interpersonal skills for communication with patients, physicians, visitors, and staff
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Pay Range: $30.55 - $44.30 per hour
