Job summary

Social Medium is a dynamic community makerspace in Calabasas, CA. We seek an Assistant Manager to guide daily operations, run core programs, and support our growing maker community, balancing front-of-house admin with hands-on workshop facilitation, youth mentorship, and volunteer leadership.

The ideal candidate enjoys community engagement, creative problem solving, and can work with beginners and experienced makers, with 20–30 hours per week including some evenings and weekends.

Qualifications

• 1–3 years of administrative support experience.
• Experience in community center management or event coordination.
• Experience working with youth or after-school programs.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize diverse tasks.
• Flexible part-time schedule (20–30 hours/week), including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Oversee front desk operations, member check-ins, and tour facilitation.
• Monitor office and shop supplies, place orders, replenish consumables.
• Maintain shop safety, tool checkout procedures, and respond to inquiries.
• Recruit, onboard, and train makerspace volunteers and workshop assistants.
• Coordinate monthly volunteer schedules for peak hours and engagement.
