Job summary

Alsip-Merrionette Park Public Library District seeks a Makerspace Assistant to support planning and execution of creative programs for all ages. You’ll assist with equipment, software, and project training, ensuring a welcoming environment and positive patron experiences.

You’ll help deliver teen and adult programs, train staff, and stay ahead of trends to evolve the Makerspace offerings. This role reports to the Adult Services Manager and requires flexibility for varied hours.

Qualifications

• LTA certificate or relevant technology program or equivalent.
• Experience in arts and crafts.
• Experience working with children preferred.
• 2 years of public library experience preferred.
• Available to work days, nights & weekends.

Responsibilities

• Assist with maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrading Makerspace computers, software, and peripherals.
• Maintain a clean, safe, welcoming Makerspace environment.
• Provide proactive customer service and guidance to patrons.
• Assist in developing and delivering ongoing staff training for the Makerspace.
• Plan and deliver programs for teens and adults in a public library setting.
• Coordinate with staff on Makerspace usage for shared programs.
