Job summary

Parsons School for Design, a division of The New School, seeks Student Assistants for the Photography Labs and Equipment Resource Center within the Making Center. You will support checkout of tools, monitor spaces, assist staff, and keep facilities orderly in a hands-on, on-campus environment.

The role emphasizes customer service, reliability, and the ability to learn new skills and technologies as needed. Shift support includes evenings and weekends as required.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Close attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
• Able to understand and follow instructions from supervisors.
• Adaptable, reliable, and able to work without close supervision.
• Familiarity with Google Suite (Calendar, Gmail, Docs, Sheets, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Assist students and faculty with checkout of tools/equipment.
• Monitor making spaces and maintain cleanliness and organization.
• Provide information about department services, policies, and procedures.
• Perform basic reception duties including greeting visitors and answering phones.
• Assist with reservations and equipment requests.
• Support shop upkeep, maintenance, and timely task completion.
• Participate in training sessions and staff meetings.
