Job summary

MCC in New York is seeking a Make Ready Production Support/Press Operator Assistant to set up and support printing presses according to customer specifications and expectations.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and quality while assisting with make-ready, changeovers, clean-up, ink pans, plate stripping, and data entry. A positive attitude and reliability are essential for success in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED; or 1–3 months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Print shop experience helpful, but not required
• Able to communicate and interact well with others (verbally and in written form); seen as a team player
• Able to read and understand a job ticket
• Able to read a ruler and understand measurements (able to pass a ruler test)
• Able correctable to 20/20 (able to pass an eye test)
• Able to differentiate colors (able to pass a color test)
• Able to input data into the computer
• Able to work in a team environment with a high sense of urgency for on-time completion of assigned activities
• Self-motivated with the ability to stay focused and follow instructions
• Able to stand and move around the press area for long periods of time
• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs
• Assertive and solution-focused
• Ability to prioritize, multitask, and work in a fast-paced environment

Responsibilities

• Comply with all company and safety policies and procedures
• Attains and maintains all defined job objectives related to the planning and execution of all jobs and quick changes
• Assists in the performance of all external make-ready operations in preparation for changeover activities (changing from one label job to another)
• Assists in the performance of all external clean-up activities following changeover
• Cleans ink pans and ancillary equipment
• Strips plates from cylinders
• Locates dies to and from the press
• May be required to work with a press operator to view labels with the assistance of a strobe light
• Comply with the quality assurance specifications of the customer and MCC
• May be required to complete the quality assurance sheet and associated documentation
• Responsible for the cleanliness of machinery and the organization of the workspace
• Responsible for working overtime when needed and as assigned
• Participates in special projects and performs other duties as assigned
