Job Title: Maintenance Worker – Solid Waste

The City of College Park Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker for the Solid Waste Division. This essential role involves working long shifts under adverse or emergency conditions, performing heavy manual labor, and operating equipment for collecting solid waste, refuse, and recyclables.

Key duties include:

1. Collecting and dumping refuse and recyclables, repositioning carts after collection.
2. Maintaining cleanliness of city streets and neighborhoods.
3. Performing manual labor tasks such as snow and leaf removal.

This outdoor work requires working in all weather conditions, with physical ability to stoop, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Minimum Requirements:

• A valid driver’s license.
• At least 6 months of experience in trash, refuse, and recycling collections.
• Ability to lift items up to 75 pounds and push/pull objects up to 150 pounds.
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen.

Compensation and Benefits:

Starting hourly pay ranges from $17.67 to $18.06, depending on experience. This full-time position offers benefits including Maryland State Retirement. The City is a Drug-Free Workplace and conducts pre-employment and random drug screenings. All candidates must pass a background check and physical exam.
