Maintenance Worker - Solid Waste/Refuse Division

Position Overview

The City of College Park Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker for the Solid Waste Division. This essential role requires the ability to work long shifts under adverse or emergency conditions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manual labor involving collection of solid waste, refuse, and recyclables, including lifting and dumping carts.
  • Repositioning carts after collection and performing tasks to keep streets and neighborhoods clean.
  • Performing outdoor manual tasks such as snow and leaf removal in all weather conditions.
Minimum Requirements
  • Valid driver's license.
  • At least 6 months of experience in trash, refuse, and recycling collection.
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and push/pull objects weighing up to 150 pounds.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screening.
Compensation and Benefits

Starting hourly wage ranges from $17.67 to $18.06, depending on experience. The position offers full-time hours (40 hours/week) with benefits, including Maryland State Retirement.
