Job Title: Maintenance Worker – Solid Waste

The City of College Park Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker for the Solid Waste Division. This essential role requires the ability to work long shifts under adverse or emergency conditions.

Responsibilities include heavy manual labor and operation of equipment for collecting solid waste, refuse, recycling, and materials. Tasks involve lifting and dumping refuse carts and recyclables, repositioning carts after collection, and maintaining clean streets and neighborhoods. Additional duties include snow and leaf removal, performed outdoors in all weather conditions. The candidate must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Minimum Requirements

• A valid driver's license
• At least 6 months of experience in trash, refuse, and recycling collection
• Ability to lift items up to 75 pounds and push/pull objects up to 150 pounds
• Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screening

The starting hourly wage ranges from $17.67 to $18.06, depending on experience. This full-time position (40 hours/week) offers benefits, including Maryland State Retirement. Applications are accepted at www.collegeparkmd.gov.
