Maintenance Worker - Solid Waste/Refuse Division

Position Details

The City of College Park Public Works Department is seeking a full-time Maintenance Worker for the Solid Waste Division. This essential role requires the ability to work long shifts under adverse or emergency conditions, performing heavy manual labor and operating equipment for waste collection, recycling, and street/ neighborhood cleanliness.

Responsibilities include lifting and dumping refuse and recyclables, repositioning carts, snow and leaf removal, and other outdoor manual tasks in all weather conditions. The candidate must be able to stoop, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods.

Minimum Requirements
  • A valid driver's license
  • At least 6 months of experience in trash, refuse, and recycling collection
  • Ability to lift items up to 75 pounds and push/pull objects up to 150 pounds
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment physical and drug screen
Compensation and Benefits

The hourly wage ranges from $17.67 to $18.06, depending on experience. This full-time position (40 hours/week) includes benefits such as Maryland State Retirement. Apply online at www.collegeparkmd.gov.
