Job summary

Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Worker to perform groundskeeping, cleaning, and basic building support at the Community Center. The role requires a valid US driver’s license, strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to work independently.

You will respond quickly to requests, maintain safety and security, and assist with general housekeeping. Travel may be required; flexibility to take on additional duties is expected as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid Driver’s License issued in the US is required.
  • Eligibility determined by FDL's insurance company.
  • Knowledge of motors, pumps, HVAC, plumbing, electric, carpentry and furniture repair is required.
  • Skilled with hand and power tools is required.
  • Knowledge of preventive maintenance requirements for a wide variety of equipment and systems is desired.
  • Ability to acquire a Special Class C Low Pressure Boiler License within six months period of hire date is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships on all projects and with all parties involved.
  • Subject to drug and alcohol testing in accordance with Fond du Lac Reservation’s Personnel Policies.
  • Travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Performs ground maintenance duties (snow removal, mowing, trimming).
  • Cleans carpeting and floors, operates floor care equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, organized work area in shop and public spaces.
  • Assist with errands and housekeeping as needed.
  • Report major repairs or lighting/heating issues to Lead Maintenance Person.
  • Ensure building security and report unauthorized persons after hours.

Division/Department: Community Services – As DesignatedLocation: Community Center- As Designated - OnsiteReports To: Lead Maintenance PersonProbationary Period: 90 days – Full time; 120 days – Part timeFLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly)Classification: Child-Related CADriver’s License: Level 3 - Driver's License RequiredRate of Pay: $17.31 to $19.47 hourlyResponsibilities: Performs ground maintenance duties as requested (i.e., snow removal, grass mowing, and trimming, etc.).Cleans carpeting and floors as requested including gymnasium. Ability to operate floor care equipment. Maintains a clean and organized work area wherever the work area may be (i.e., shop, offices, public spaces, etc.). Assist in general errands and housekeeping duties as needed.Notifies Lead Maintenance Person concerning need for major repairs or additions to lighting, heating and ventilating equipment.Performs building security duties, ensures the building is secure at the completion of business hours. Reports on any authorized persons in the designated work areas during business hours.
