Job summary

Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa is seeking a Billing Clerk for the Revenue Cycle, onsite at Min No Aya Win Human Services Center. The role handles day-to-day payments, EOBs, deposits, and postings, reporting to the Billing & Coding Manager.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 1–2 years electronic billing, and proficiency with Word, Access, Excel, and Outlook. Strong CPT/HCPCS knowledge, communication, and attention to detail are essential for accurate, confidential work.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • One to two years of electronic billing for medical services is required.
  • Knowledge of Word, Access, Excel and Microsoft Outlook is required.
  • Knowledge of CPT & HCPCS terminology is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing is required.
  • Ability to work independently and establish priorities is required.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy is required.
  • Ability to establish professional and harmonious working relationships with all parties.

Responsibilities

  • Separate and log daily payments and EOBs by departments.
  • Reconcile receivables with the Financial Assistant.
  • Complete daily deposit sheet for accounting.
  • Distribute daily deposit with EOBs to departments.
  • Post medical payments and adjustments to accounts.
  • Follow up on denials for payment and secondary insurance.
  • Post electronic payments and to Third-Party Payer contracts.
  • Generate and run insurance claims daily.
  • Run weekly reports for past due claims and process as necessary.
  • Update fee schedules yearly for CPT and HCPCS codes.
  • Update billing software tables in file maintenance as needed.
  • Participate in QA activities and back up billing staff as needed.
