Job summary

The Rockford Housing Authority is seeking a Maintenance Trainee to support maintenance staff and interact with residents in both unoccupied and occupied units. The incumbent will assist in cleaning, grounds duties, minor electrical and plumbing tasks, snow removal, and assisting with inspections and moving heavy objects.

Responsibilities

• Perform general cleaning in offices, restrooms, common areas and prepare vacant units for management.
• Perform grounds duties daily and as directed.
• Carry out general maintenance tasks such as minor electrical (≤120V), plumbing, carpentry and appliance repairs.
• Clear snow/ice from sidewalks and may operate motorized equipment.
• Assist management with property inspections.
• Assist staff and contractors with moving heavy objects.
• Demonstrate reading comprehension for assigned tasks.
