Job summary

POAH Communities is seeking a Maintenance Technician to help maintain a safe and comfortable living environment at Flat 9 Whittier redevelopment in Roxbury, Boston. The role involves hands-on maintenance, from inspecting units to performing preventive work and coordinating make-ready repairs, under HUD Section 8/LIHTC considerations.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1 year of apartment maintenance experience.
• High School diploma or GED; HVAC certification.
• Valid Driver's License and auto insurance; personal vehicle may be used.
• Flexible schedule with weekends and on-call as needed.
• Knowledge of safe use and maintenance of hand/power tools and equipment.
• Ability to read and understand maintenance forms and labels.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe, secure and comfortable living environments for residents, visitors, and staff.
• Follow laws and EPA/OSHA regulations relevant to maintenance.
• Assess property conditions and promptly address unsafe situations.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance on equipment.
• Keep work areas clean and safe.
• Diagnose and perform minor repairs and maintenance tasks.
• Ensure all make-ready repairs are completed.
• Coordinate needed repairs and services.
• Assist in keeping grounds neat and clean; rake, sweep, shovel as needed.
