Job summary

Chestnut Labs in Frederick, MD seeks a skilled Maintenance Technician to perform maintenance, repairs, and preventative tasks on production and packaging equipment. You will read schematics, support new installations, and assist operators with training to minimize downtime.

Ideal candidates have 2–4 years of maintenance experience, familiarity with PLC/HMI controls, ammonia systems preferred, and a strong safety focus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Trade/technical school preferred in electrical, mechanical, welding/fabrication, refrigeration, plumbing, etc.
• 2–4 years maintenance, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, PLC, and HVAC or related experience, preferably in manufacturing.
• Experience with ammonia refrigeration systems preferred.
• Certification and/or License may be required during course of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform maintenance and/or repairs on production, processing, and packaging equipment and related systems following safety procedures.
• Perform preventative maintenance and routine inspections for reliability and performance.
• Read and interpret technical procedures, electrical schematics, service manuals, and work orders.
• Support installation of new equipment.
• Assist operators with training or troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
• Complete work orders in a timely manner with high quality.
• Use hand/power tools and meters for maintenance tasks.
• Maintain communication with other departments and management about production efficiency.
• Document all repairs and required information per SOPs.
• Stay up to date on new products, equipment and techniques.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes using continuous improvement mindset.
• Anticipate parts requirements and follow proper purchasing procedures.
