Job summary

Greystar Worldwide, LLC in Berkeley, CA is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform technical and mechanical work ensuring building areas meet company standards for cleanliness, safety, and functionality.

The role involves diagnosing defects, completing work orders, and preparing vacant units for leasing while coordinating with vendors and maintaining records to track tasks and inventory. Strong safety awareness and ability to work evenings/weekends as needed are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma, GED, or related experience and/or training.
• 2 years minimum experience in property management maintenance or related trade.
• May be required to hold various certifications (e.g. HVAC) and licenses.
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as a leader, and a collaborative member of a team.

Responsibilities

• Completes assigned work orders from resident requests and preventative maintenance by diagnosing defects and making repairs per policies and codes.
• Completes the make-ready process to prepare vacant apartments for leasing by inspecting, listing tasks, scheduling vendors, and ensuring tasks are completed.
• Follows procedures to access materials from the maintenance department, tracks inventory, and reports reorder needs.
• Completes documentation and paperwork to document and track service requests.
• Assists in maintaining grounds, common areas, and amenities by cleaning, painting curbs, and debris removal.
• Supports cost-cutting by fixing rather than replacing parts when possible and using tools correctly.
• Complies with safety policies by attending safety meetings and completing required training.
• May periodically inspect contractors’ work to verify quality, scope, and specifications.
• Assists in property inspections to identify safety and maintenance concerns and communicates needs to management.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
