Job description

Job Overview

Maintenance Technician II – Group Facilities – Individual Contributor. Must work on-site at a specified Cox location (no remote option). Will perform various skilled and semi-skilled duties related to the repair and maintenance of buildings, furnishings, equipment, and grounds. The role requires readiness for 24/7 emergency assistance and may involve after‑hours or weekend work. The technician may also support security, sustainability efforts, meetings & events, and mailroom deliveries.

Compensation

Hourly base pay rate: $22.02 – $33.08/hour. The rate may vary within this range based on location and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. The position may also be eligible for additional compensation such as commission and/or incentives.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions
  • Perform basic repairs, preventative maintenance, minor cleaning, and installation/tear‑downs of office furniture.
  • Assist with relocations of people, furniture, and equipment, including tear‑down and reconstruction of furniture systems, light carpentry, and painting work.
  • Replace light bulbs, install/remove bulletin boards, whiteboards, TVs, pictures, etc., and conduct routine inspections of these items.
  • Assist vendors with basic operations, testing, preventative maintenance, or repairs/replacements of electrical equipment, HVAC systems, plumbing, kitchen fixtures/equipment, UPS and back‑up power systems, fire detection/suppression, etc.
  • Respond promptly to daily work orders and preventative maintenance tasks in the IWMS ticketing system, meeting all assigned SLAs.
  • Conduct routine building inspections to identify and address concerns impacting building performance, employee comfort, and safety.
  • Perform minor landscape repairs, property cleanup, and janitorial duties as needed.
  • Perform regulatory inspections on critical equipment and maintain service records.
Qualifications

Minimum: High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience in a related field (facilities, maintenance, construction, or related).Alternative qualifications include:

  • Any degree or certification beyond a HS diploma/GED in a related discipline and 3 years of experience.
  • 7 years of experience in a related field.
Additional requirements: Safe driver with a valid driver’s license, strong knowledge of building system terminology, proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, excellent organizational, prioritization, multi‑tasking, math, written, verbal, and collaborative skills. Preferred technical certifications in building systems, lifting equipment, and experience with automated Building Management Systems (HVAC and lighting controls).
Environment and Working Conditions

Work may occur in office and outdoor environments, with exposure to inclement weather. May also work in warehouses or specialized facilities as assigned. Remote office travel involves traffic and emergency response situations both day and night. Tasks may require repeated bending, lifting, reaching, sitting, kneeling, pushing, pulling, navigating stairs, standing, and carrying parts, tools, and supplies. Frequently use ladder or step‑stool, furniture dolly, hydraulic lift gate, tie‑down straps, forklift, and scissor lift.
