Job summary

Cox Automotive USA is seeking a Maintenance Technician I to maintain buildings, property, and equipment at the designated Cox location in Illinois. The role involves cleaning, minor repairs, and safety-compliant operations, with a day shift from 7:00am to 3:30pm, Monday through Friday.

The position emphasizes health and safety, routine maintenance, and collaboration with supervisory staff to ensure a well-maintained site for employees and visitors.

Qualifications

  • Minimum: High School Diploma/GED and 3 years’ experience in a related field.
  • OR a different combination such as any level degree/certification beyond HS diploma/GED in a related discipline; OR 5 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Safe driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain buildings, property, equipment, and landscaping for the site.
  • Clean and pick up trash/debris from parking lots and exterior trash cans.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms.
  • Operate floor scrubbing machinery and maintain auction house floors.
  • Perform routine carpentry work for building repairs.
  • Operate snow removal equipment for parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Ensure buildings are kept clean and safe.

Compensation Hourly base pay rate is $20.00 - $30.00/hour. The hourly base rate may vary within the anticipated range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include commission (annual, monthly, etc.) and/or an incentive program.

Job Responsibilities
  • Maintain all buildings, property, equipment, and landscaping for the site.
  • Clean and pick up trash/debris from parking lots and exterior trash cans.
  • Clean and maintain restrooms.
  • Operate floor scrubbing machinery and maintain clean auction house floors.
  • Perform routine carpentry work in the repair and maintenance of buildings, offices, etc.
  • Operate snow removal equipment to maintain parking lots and sidewalks.
  • Maintain all buildings, property and equipment for the site.
  • Ensure all buildings are kept clean.
  • Empty and clean wastebaskets and trash containers.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition and comply with applicable safety rules.
  • Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures and modeling the behaviors related to such.
  • Actively participate in support of all safety activities aligned with Safety Excellence.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by manager or supervisor, i.e., moving furniture, unloading and storing supplies, etc.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
Qualifications

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Preferred: Skill and knowledge to perform light/basic electrical, plumbing and carpentry repairs required.

Good communication and organizational skills required.

Regularly required to stand, walk, reach, talk and hear.

Frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, squat and climb.

Medium strength. Ability to lift 1-50 pounds.

Vision abilities required include close, distance and color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Custodial duties Benefits

Employees are eligible to receive a minimum of sixteen hours of paid time off every month and seven paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
