Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn & Queens is seeking a Porter/Maintenance Worker II to join the on-site maintenance team at affordable housing properties. You’ll perform cleaning, routine repairs, and help prepare tenant spaces for occupancy, working with staff and contractors to keep systems safe and compliant.

Responsibilities include documenting service requests, assisting with cleaning schedules, and supporting 24/7 operations as needed.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• 1 year of prior maintenance or portering experience preferred.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
• Bilingual abilities are a plus (Spanish, Korean, Chinese, Russian).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a regular cleaning schedule for the property.
• Perform routine repairs and document service requests.
• Assist with tenant apartment preparations for occupancy.
• Coordinate with Superintendent, vendors, and on-site staff for maintenance tasks.
• Follow safety guidelines and municipal trash/removal procedures.
