Job summary

Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens seeks a Facilities Maintenance Technician to ensure the safety and maintenance of affordable housing for tenants. This role involves performing skilled maintenance, troubleshooting mechanical and electrical systems, and supporting the maintenance team.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, various FDNY certificates, and bilingual abilities. The position involves a flexible schedule with competitive salary and benefits.

Qualifications

• 5 years demonstrated experience may waive degree requirement.
• FDNY Certificate of Fitness F-58 for Fire Safety Director is required.
• FDNY Certificate of Fitness F-59 for Emergency Action Plan Director is required.
• Must obtain fire alarm and sprinkler system supervise certifications within 6 months.
• Ability to assess/de-escalate/intervene in crisis situations.
• Able to travel to multiple locations within the five boroughs.

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe affordable housing maintenance.
• Perform skilled maintenance and repairs of mechanical and electrical systems.
• Maintain communication with staff and vendors for service delivery.
• Respond to 24-hour facility emergencies.
• Conduct building tours and represent agency best practices.
